Diablo Immortal might be dominating the headlines right now (and not necessarily always for the right reasons), but as a free-to-play mobile-first spinoff, it’s very much not the main course that Diablo fans have been awaiting for years at this point. That will come in the form of the in-development Diablo 4– and apparently, it’ll come rather soon.

The official Diablo 4 website was recently updated, and surprisingly enough, it has made pre-registrations for a beta available to everyone. A beta hasn’t been announced yet, and there has been no communication from Blizzard regarding pre-registrations, so clearly this has happened prematurely. According to journalist Jeff Grubb, based on what he’s heard, Diablo 4 will be playable by audiences before the end of this year, so this aligns with that.

Meanwhile, interestingly enough, the game’s website also only mentions PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S as its target platforms (screenshot below). Why exactly is that interesting, you might ask? Well, because since Diablo 4 was first announced, on the console front, it’s only been officially confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One, and there’s been no communication from Blizzard (until this) that suggests anything else.

There’s a solid chance that a Diablo 4 announcement is coming soon where these new target platforms and an upcoming beta get detailed. Whether that happens at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, the PC Gaming Show (both of which are happening later today), or somewhere else entirely remains to be seen.

Either way, we’ll keep an eye out for new details, so stay tuned for any and all updates.
