Blizzard Entertainment has stressed on no few occasions that it has big plans for Diablo 4 where post-launch content is concerned, with the company planning on releasing annual expansions, of which two were confirmed to be in development earlier this year. Recently, at BlizzCon 2023, the company formally unveiled the first of those.

Diablo 4’s first expansion will be called Vessel of Hatred, and it’s going to be one that fans of Diablo 2 in particular will want to keep an eye on. Players will be returning to the jungles of Torajan, while it’s also been confirmed that Mephisto, one of the three Prime Evils, will be taking centerstage once again (as recent leaks suggested would be the case).

Meanwhile, it’s also confirmed that the expansion will bring with it a new class, and though details on it are currently sparse, Blizzard has said that it’s going to be completely different from any other class we’ve previously seen in a Diablo game. That’s certainly a lofty promise.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred will launch sometime in late 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out its brief CG announcement trailer below.
