Diablo 4’s Next Expansion Reveal and “More” Set for The Game Awards – Rumor

A recent teaser tweet by show host Geoff Keighley could end up being for the action RPG looter's second expansion after all.

Diablo 4 Season of Rising Hatred

During the weekend, The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley sent many into a tizzy by tweeting out a mysterious statue in the desert with the words, “regal.inspiring.thickness.” The design saw many speculating that it was the next God of War, The Elder Scrolls 6, and so on. However, the answer could be a lot simpler – an apparent new expansion for Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 4.

That’s according to Jez Corden of Windows Central, who replied to another user about whether it would really be an expansion teaser. “Yes, but also, more,” he responded, which is perhaps the more intriguing part. Is there another overhaul for Diablo 4 incoming? Maybe it’s going free-to-play to compete with the likes of Path of Exile 1 and 2?

Of course, the more likely possibility is that this is a shadow drop of the Nintendo Switch 2 version, which Blizzard expressed interest in last April. It’s hard to say, but the previous expansion, Vessel of Hatred, released in October 2024 and received middling reviews. You can check out our impressions here.
