Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed Coming to Nintendo Switch in 2024

THQ Nordic is releasing a remake of the 2010 Nintendo Wii platformer developed by Junction Point Studios and directed by Warren Spector.

Of the many announcements during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, a remake of Disney Epic Mickey was perhaps the least expected. Nevertheless, THQ Nordic has confirmed the same for Nintendo Switch, with a launch sometime this year. Check out the announcement trailer below and some gameplay from the Showcase.

Epic Mickey first launched in 2010 for the Nintendo Wii and featured Mickey Mouse fighting against the Shadow Blot. Directed by Warren Spector of Deus Ex fame, the action-adventure platformer sees Mickey wielding a magic paintbrush to restore objects and thinner to remove them. He can also bring objects to life for various effects and interact with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who existed before Mickey Mouse and was owned by Universal Pictures until 2006 (and became public domain last year).

Junction Point Studios would release a sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, but it received mixed reviews and performed poorly in sales. The full extent of changes for Disney Epic Mickey: Rebruhsed hasn’t been detailed, so stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
