Donkey Kong Bananza’s DK Island and Emerald Rush DLC arrived last month to somewhat mixed fanfare, mostly due to its $20 price. Nevertheless, Nintendo is continuing support with new limited-time events. It kicks off on October 28th with Chip Fever, which ends on November 3rd, 11:59 PM PT.
Unlike standard runs, events impose special conditions on players which keep the Emerald Perks fixed, though you’ll still have three options. The challenge thus becomes more about map knowledge, as you optimize runthroughs and attempt to collect as much as possible within the time limit.
It’s an intriguing spin on the current rogue-lite formula, though time will tell how subsequent events pan out. Those who complete Chip Fever have a chance to obtain statues of Enguarde and Kong Bananza, DK’s first transformation.
