Dota 2 Patch Streamlines Hero Selection, Removes “Unnecessary Challenges”

New players will acclimate to the MOBA much more easily.

Dota 2

Valve Corporation has released a new update for its popular MOBA Dota 2 and it’s one that should help ease new players in better. The update does several things including limiting the hero selection screen to showing just 20 heroes that the developer considers new players should best begin with.

Furthermore, the entire roster is only available once you’ve played 25 games. Till then, the same group of heroes will be available – and seen – through all matches. New players will also only be matched with players that have “high behaviour scores” to insure the best possible play experience and minimal toxicity. Skill is still a factor though so don’t worry.

For those still playing Dota 2, these changes won’t alter the experience at all. It is a great first step to allow new players to better enter the game, especially considering how complex it can be to approach Dota 2 for the very first time.
