Ojiro Fumoto, the creator of the hit vertical platformer Downwell, which is available on iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as on PS Vita and PS4, has apparently landed himself a gig at Nintendo. Speaking on Twitter, Fumoto-san confirmed that he is now working for the legendary Big N.

Fumoto-san is a great get for Nintendo- he has a mastery over controls and mechanics, which is the kind of thing that Nintendo emphasizes in its games. He is very clearly talented, and will find others of his ilk at Nintendo, who are, after all, home to arguably the best developers on the planet. It is unclear what his projects with Nintendo may be- but reasonably speaking, you can expect that they won’t include a Switch port of Downwell (though, who knows, that might still happen anyway).

Nintendo has started to greatly emphasize new talent and developers in the last few years, which has led to fresh games like Splatoon coming out of them- it will be interesting to see what comes out of Fumoto-san in the coming years.
