It’s not too bad of a time to be a Dragon Quest fan. Dragon Quest XI S, the enhanced re-release of the latest entry in the ongoing series, is coming soon, and the recently released Dragon Quest Builders 2 will hopefully lead to more spinoffs making it outside Japan. Not to mention the franchise is getting big representation in Smash Bros. But more is coming, as a new announcement will be coming this August.

Japanese site Ryokutya2089 reported that an announcement for the series will come at the Dragon Quest Summer Festival Ariake TFT Hall in Tokyo on August 3rd. While nothing is said about what game it could be related to, it is said to be about the Dragon Quest XI character, Erik. Whether it’s a new spinoff, new content for Dragon Quest XI S, or something else entirely is up in the air. We’ll keep you updated.

In the meantime, you can check out Dragon Quest Builders 2 now on PlayStation 4 and Switch, whikle Dragon Quest XI S will be available on Switch September 27th, just in time for the newest Switch revision.
