UPDATE: Microsoft have now officially confirmed this. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is launching for Xbox One (and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility) on May 4, and will include the Hotto Stuff Pack, Modernist Pack, Aquarium Pack, Designer’s Sunglasses, Historic Headwear, Dragonlord’s Throne, and more. It will also be available via Game Pass (console, PC, and cloud) at launch. Meanwhile, it’s also been confirmed as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, which means it will support cross-progression for Achievements and save data with the PC version of the game.
Original story follows:
Square Enix has been supporting Xbox a great deal more than it usually does of late, bringing over several of its titles like Dragon Quest 11 and Octopath Traveler, many of which have also been made available on Xbox Game Pass (including Outriders, which was available via the service right at launch). Reports have suggested that Square Enix is planning on bringing over more of its catalog to the subscription service, and it seems we know what the next game making the jump will be.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 has been available on PS4, Switch, and PC since 2019, and it seems it’s now coming to Xbox as well. Though no announcement regarding the same has been made by Square Enix or Microsoft, a listing for the game has appeared on the Microsoft Store, and apparently, it’s releasing for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on May 4. Additionally, it also seems like the game will be available via Xbox Game Pass right off the bat as well.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 8/10, and said, “Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a much leaner, more organic, and more enjoyable Builders experience, and feels like a proper realization of the experiment that the first game was.” You can read our full review through here.
