E3 2012: PS All Stars Battle Royale Gameplay Shown Off; Coming to the PS Vita

Sony announced that its upcoming all stars mascot starring brawler, Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, is coming to the Playstation Vita as well. Cross compatibility and cross platform play was also confirmed. The two characters leaked earlier today, Big Daddy and Nathan Drake, were also confirmed.

The game was then demoed on stage, and frankly, while yes, it does look derivative, it still looks incredibly fun, and no doubt it will be a big hit at the parties, just like Super Smash Bros was before it.

The Supers mechanic was also expounded on, and it became clear just how this game will be different from SSB once you saw it for a while.

Kratos, Sly, Fat Princess, Sweet Tooth, PaRappa the Rapper and the Helghast were also confirmed during the gameplay demo as characters for the game. The battle between the first four was fought on a map called Metropolis and was dynamic, with the Hydra boss from God of War 1 popping up in the background in the middle of the battle and interacting in-game.

Characters react to the environment and other characters differently, depending on what their approach to battle is. For example, while Kratos is melee based and gets up front and brutal with everyone and everything, Sly is stealthy and steals items from his foes and sneaks around.

You get a point for each kill and lose a point for each death, and the player with the most points at the end of the match wins.

The game will feature cross-platform play with the Vita and the PS3.
