EA is opening up a new DICE Studios in Los Angeles

Electronic Arts will be opening a new studio for the Battlefield developer DICE in Los Angeles.

According to one of the representatives, DICE LA “will work on the Battlefield franchise” as expected, plus “unannounced projects, all built on the Frostbite 3 engine.”

EA recently announced that they signed a multi-year contract with Disney to develop and publish next-generation Star Wars games using the Frostbite 3 engine.

Looks like the deal is already starting to take place and things are happening, this is an exciting time for EA and everyone else in the industry. Although, it is unsure how involved the new studio will be working on the Star Wars franchise along with the main DICE studio in Sweden.

The studio is expected to have approximately 60 staff members by the end of the year according to Karl-Magnus Troedsoon who talked to Wall Street Journal. Troedsson also said that he expects the company to go into a head-to-head battle against their competitors, Activision’s Infinity Ward and Treyarch Call of Duty.
