Elden Ring Concept Art and New Details Possibly Leaked – Rumour

Take this with a grain of salt for now.

In the year and a half that’s passed since Elden Ring’s announcement at E3 2019, fans of FromSoftware have had little to no information on the game to make the wait for it any easier. Besides some brief new updates and possible leaks, details on the game have been scant, and while it remains to be seen just how soon we’ll finally get those long-awaited official details, we do have another potential leak to go on.

A Chinese Soulsborne content creator recently uploaded a video showing a couple of leaked concept art images and sharing some new details on the game. The video has since been taken down, but a thread on Reddit has compiled the highlights.

Apparently, Elden Ring’s world is based on bits and pieces of Norse mythology- more specifically, it seems to be taking cues from Yggdrasil (or the World Tree) to some extent (though there are allegedly also some references to Celtic mythology). The world is also divided into several factions, and red- and white-haired giants seem to be among the two biggest factions in the world.

The leak states that gameplay in Elden Ring is similar to Dark Souls, while enemy design is more similar instead to Bloodborne, with more “Cthulhu-style” enemies. Meanwhile, the world is much larger (which isn’t a surprise, since it is, after all, open world), with a dynamic day and night cycle.

The leak also states that the bulk of development was actually wrapped up in the first half of 2020 itself, and that FromSoftware have been in the process of polishing the game since then. Given the complete lack of footage and updates on the game, that’s a little hard to believe, though it’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time a rumour has said something along those lines.

Of course, it goes without saying that this information should be taken with a grain of salt for now. We can only hope that FromSoftware will share a new update on the game sooner rather than later.
