There’s little doubt in anyone’s mind that Elden Ring has been perhaps the biggest new release of 2022 so far, and the level of success it has enjoyed on both critical and commercial fronts has been unprecedented. Unsurprisingly, the FromSoftware-developed open world action RPG is maintaining its momentum where sales are concerned.
Publisher Bandai Namco revealed in its latest quarterly fiscal report that Elden Ring has sold 13.4 million units worldwide as of March 31. That’s up from the 12 million sales that were reported by the Japanese company halfway through March.
Elden Ring’s sustained success doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Launching in late February, the game was the second-highest selling game in Japan for the month, second only to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. In the UK, it enjoyed 2.5x the launch sales of megatons like Horizon Forbidden West and Cyberpunk 2077. In the US, it instantly became the second-best selling game upon launch for the preceding 12-month period, second only to Call of Duty: Vanguard. Its sales in Europe saw it becoming the biggest new IP launch in the region since 2016’s The Division.
Elden Ring is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
