Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s acclaimed open-world action RPG, finally supports ray tracing, specifically ray-traced ambient occlusion and shadows. Initial impressions from modder Lance Macdonald weren’t too positive. Indoor shadows were unaffected, performance took a “severe hit” on a GeForce 2070 Super, and there’s no DLSS 3 support.

With Patch 1.09’s notes now available, the requirements for ray-tracing on PC have been revealed. It turns out that players will need a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (8 GB) or Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB) with 16 GB RAM, an Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT and Windows 10. This allows for Low Ray Tracing at Low quality and 1080p resolution.

Recommended requirements include Windows 11, a Core i7-10700K or Ryzen 7 3800XT, 16 GB RAM, and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (8 GB) or Radeon RX 6900 XT (16 GB). This ensures High Ray Tracing at High quality and 1080p resolution. Of course, without extensive testing, it’s hard to say how optimized performance will be, even on recommended requirements.

Stay tuned for more details in the meantime. Elden Ring is available for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
