With Escape from Tarkov finally out of closed beta, developer Battlestate Games is now looking towards post-launch support. While game director Nikita Buyanov announced plans for five years of post-launch support, including DLC that expands on the Scav faction, the team is also looking at console ports.

Speaking to WCCF Tech, Buyanov said, “Yes, we are considering the possibility of porting the game to consoles. I think when we start working on it, we will implement full controller support. It’s a very serious and interesting game design challenge – to create comfortable controls while accounting for all of Tarkov’s unique mechanics.”

Tarkov doesn’t currently offer native controller support on PC. If Battlestate were to develop the same for consoles, it remains to be seen if it would implement it for PC players. Considering the high system requirements with a whopping 64 GB of RAM recommended to play the extraction shooter, it also has quite a road ahead when it comes to optimization.

Escape from Tarkov launched yesterday on Steam and already has a “Mostly Negative” rating. Out of the currently 15,954 user reviews, only 29 percent recommend the title. Login issues have been one of the biggest issues, and some have pointed out that the third-party launcher counts towards playtime, reducing the window for refund.
