Turtle Rock Studios says that, "We can’t break the community up."

Evolve

Turtle Rock Studios’ upcoming co-op shooter Evolve, which pits four hunters on an alien world against one powerful monster, will make all of its future add-on maps free for players.

Creative director Phil Robb recently told IGN that, “We can’t break the community up, so all of our maps will be free. We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven’t bought something.”

Evolve does have a Season Pass that lets you pick up additional monsters and characters as DLC. However, even if you don’t buy those monsters or characters, you’ll still be able to play with them.

“We’ll have [DLC] characters and monsters, and even if you don’t buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that’s cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase. You won’t be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters.”

It’s an interesting step at inclusiveness and should certainly help bolster the community when Evolve releases in February 2015 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
