Lionhead reveals a lighter take on the action RPG.

After registering domain names for the same earlier this week, Microsoft has revealed Fable: Legends for the Xbox One at its pre-Gamescom press briefing. It will see Albion’s heroes bound together in an intriguing pop-up forest world. Check out the reveal trailer for the same.

The usual assortment of mages, archers, warriors and other classes have been promised along with magic, weapons and more. Legends will be a persistent online title that will allow for four player co-operative play, with three players taking the role of heroes while one controls a villain who can set traps and enemies. It will also support the Xbox One’s Cloud services.

An intriguing little off-shoot of the series for sure, which reminds us a bit of Dungeons & Dragons in the way the fourth player can antagonize the others. Stay tuned for more announcements as Gamescom gets underway. Microsoft’s official press conference will be held at 10 AM PST.

Update: Screenshots added.
