Fallout 76 – New Gameplay Footage Incoming, PS4 and Xbox One Cross-Play Not Ruled Out

Even though cross-play is not a priority yet, it might still end up happening.

Having been an outspoken critic of Sony’s restrictive policies regarding cross-platform play, Bethesda were expected by many to jump on the opportunity of having cross-play in the upcoming Fallout 76 when Sony finally brought down the walls recently. However, according to Pete Hines, senior VP of marketing and PR at Bethesda, things aren’t quite so simple.

While responding to a fan, Hines mentioned that Fallout 76 isn’t a game that is centred around a series of short matches the way something like, say, Fortnite is, and owing to the game’s vast and persistent nature, having cross-play is a bit more complicated. He did go on to mention, however, that now that Bethesda has information about the fact that cross-play on all three platforms is an option, they can work toward that goal in the future (even though it isn’t a priority right now).

In a separate tweet, Hines also mentioned Bethesda is going to hold an event for Fallout 76 soon, where they will allow people to record several hours of gameplay footage doing whatever they want to do in-game, which means soon we will have potentially hundreds of hours’ worth of gameplay footage to sink our teeth into.

Fallout 76 launches for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 14. Its beta will be going live at the end of October. Head on over here to get full details.
