Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is Real, Ubisoft Makes Hoax Website

Most likely arriving on Xbox Live/PSN as downloadable title.

Anyone would be confused by the release of the new Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon trailer, seeing as how it’s April Fool’s. However, due to previous leaks, the game is pretty real. This hasn’t stopped Ubisoft from playing mind games with its audience by effectively launching a hoax website for the same.

The site plays host to a trailer, soundtrack samples and an invitation to purchase “memorabilia”. Even when viewing the trailer, one gets a major 80’s action movie vibe. The music and sound effects, for instance, contain throwbacks to Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Ditto for the retro-esque graphics.

Regardless, Blood Dragon will release, most likely as a downloadable title on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN. Whatever retro 80’s cyberpunk action movie feel they’re going for, it certainly has our interest piqued.

In the meantime, check out our review for Far Cry 3 – it is, after all, our official Game of the Year for 2012.
