One of the most unexpectedly successful series of all times, Focus Home Interactive has announced that Farming Simulator 17 has sold through 1 million units within its first month. That equates to nearly twice the sales of the previous Farming Simulator in its first month.

Interestingly enough, half of all sales were on PC while the majority were made through stores. Yes, people actually went out of their way to purchase boxed copies of Farming Simulator 17. Let that sink in.

Farming Simulator 17 has also sold 220,000 copies through Steam. That’s not including its PS4 and Xbox One releases which managed to chart in their debut month despite competition from the likes of Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition.

What do you think about the game’s success? Have you actually played it and could possibly explain the appeal? Let us know in the comments below. We won’t judge (too much), we promise.
