While we don’t yet know exactly when either Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 are going to be hitting the market, we did get a bit of information about both games earlier this week. When it comes to Kingdom Hearts 3, Tetsuya Nomura talked to GamesTM about just how hard the process of doing this new game has actually beenThe process even involved switching engines mid-way through the development process, which is always going to make things just a little more difficult.

“The transition was quite a process.” Nomura told the site, “We pretty much had to start from the ground again. We had to make sure that we could recreate our key effects in the Unreal Engine and that the effects we specifically needed for Kingdom Hearts could be adapted. We were also developing a Kingdom Hearts-specific shader and we had to make a lot of adjustments so we could use that shader on the new engine. That goes a long way to explaining the long distance between the announcement and now, when we’re able to reveal more information about the title.”

Here’s hoping that new information starts coming more frequently along with a release date. As far as Final Fantasy 15 info goes, we’ve already seen more of what that game’s engine is going to bring to the title. We also learned about a couple of subtle changes going on behind the scenes, such as the way Ignis speaks in English and Cidney’s name change. The game’s director, Hajime Tabata talked to fans on the new official forums and said, the change from Cidney to Cindy shows a “minor name change may not have created issues in past FF games, but it does for FF XV. I think it has to do with the fact we are targeting a simultaneous global launch.” The director says the company is looking at ways to make the transition easier moving forward. Neither Kingdom Hearts 3 nor Final Fantasy 15 have official release dates yet.
