There have been rumblings of an announcement for Final Fantasy 16’s PC version, especially after Nvidia’s recent Game Ready and Studio Driver 560.81 referenced the title. While Gamescom Opening Night Live could be the ideal place, an Xbox Series X/S version may not be too far behind.
Responding in a ResetEra thread about the same, insider NateTheHate said, “Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox is going to happen. Just waiting for Square [Enix] to announce it.” When asked if there was chance of its announcement on August 20th during Opening Night Live, he replied, “The sooner, the better.”
This doesn’t mean a reveal at the opening ceremony, but there may be something during Xbox @ Gamescom 2024 from August 21st to 23rd. The series of streams hosted by Microsoft will cover upcoming releases like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Age of Mythology: Retold, Atomfall, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Towerborne, and even third-party titles like Star Wars Outlaws.
An Xbox Series X/S announcement wouldn’t be surprising, especially since producer Naoki Yoshida said the team hopes to launch for “other platforms” after the PC version. As for the latter, Yoshida confirmed it’s in the “final stages of optimization”, with a demo arriving before launch.
