Final Fantasy 16 Rated in Brazil Ahead of Potential Release Date Announcement

Square Enic previously said that Final Fantasy 16 is nearing the end of development, with a release date announcement likely coming before the end of the year.

Earlier this year, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 is set to launch sometime in Summer 2023, and recent developments have indicated that a precise release date for the RPG is also set to be confirmed soon.

For instance, Brazil’s classifications board, the Sistema de Classificação Indicativa Brasileiro, has rated Final Fantasy 16. That’s significant because age ratings for games usually arrive when they’re approaching release, suggesting that the RPG might not only be close to launch, but could also get concrete details on the same soon.

As previously confirmed, Final Fantasy 16 will be the first numbered entry in the series to release with Mature rating.

Recently, game director Hiroshi Takai said that Final Fantasy 16’s development was “95% complete”, with the team currently focused on fixing bugs and polishing the experience. Takai also confirmed that release date was likely to be announced soon, with subsequent reports claiming that that would happen with a new trailer in December, possibly at The Game Awards.

Final Fantasy 16 is in development for PS5. It will be exclusive to the platform for at least six months after launch. Producer Naoki Yoshida has also previously said that Square Enix plans on releasing demo shortly before the game’s release.
