Until very recently, the last we saw of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake was at PSX in 2015, after which there was nothing but radio silence from Square Enix. In 2017, we received reports that development on the game changed gears as Square Enix brought the project in-house. Following that, the developers made a few encouraging statements, such as wanting to exceed the original with the remake, and how they were changing the design of some characters to better resemble their original looks.
A couple days ago, we finally got a new look at the game, and the trailer showed some noticeable improvements. In a video uploaded on YouTube by Cycu1 (whichh you can view below), gameplay for the game from 2015 and from 2019 is compared side by side, showing the immediately apparent changes. Character models are looking a lot better with a lot more detail- Cloud especially has seen noticeable improvements. Take a look below.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is slated for a PS4 launch, but a release date still hasn’t been confirmed- though we’ll be hearing more about the game at E3 come June. We do know that it’s still going to be an episodic release, while we also know that Naoki Hamaguchi recently got promoted to co-director alongside Tetsuya Nomura.
