It’s one thing for a game to look this good and make no mistake – despite some rough textures, Final Fantasy 7 Remake looks really good. The character animations, the skyboxes, the various effects during battles, the Summons – it’s a smorgasbord of beautiful visual touches. However, the art direction is even more amazing, whether it’s the design of the characters or just how faithfully translated the world feels from its PS One days to the current generation. And that’s an artistic and technical accomplishment worth celebrating. Midgar has never looked better. Cloud and friends have never looked better. It’s just a gorgeous game in every sense.
