Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster

Fans have been asking for proper remasters of the original six Final Fantasy games for a long time, especially seeing as it’s very hard to get hands on most of their definitive versions these days, but when Square Enix announced Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster at E3 this year, they were met with plenty of backlash. Given the fact that the remastered collection has been announced only for Steam and iOS and Android devices, it’s not hard to see why.

However, that might change down the road. In a Q&A regarding Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster published on the official Square Enix website, they confirmed that the collection could release on more platforms if there was enough demand for it. They commented on the difficulty of remastering multiple games that are this old, and said they wanted to start by focusing on smartphones to start off, since they’ve been impressed with their growth.

So there you have it- if you want Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster on PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch, make sure you let Square Enix know. Then again, people have been telling Square Enix that for years at this point, so who knows what’s going through their minds.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is going to have a fragmented launch. Final Fantasy 1, 2, and 3’s remasters are releasing on July 28.
