Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Closed Beta Begins on February 25th

Square Enix releases new footage showcasing real-time gameplay.

Square Enix is finally ready to open the doors to its rebooted MMORPG…sort of. The developer/publisher has announced that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be entering into closed beta on Monday, February 25th. It has also released a helpful benchmark software for PC gamers to assess their configurations here.

You can also see how the game looks in real-time, via the benchmark software, in the new trailer above.

The closed beta will allow players to take part in Full Active Time Events or FATE, which are random events that don’t require a party to participate in. Just stand within proximity of the event, and you’re in. What kind of events we’ll see will be determined when the beta starts.

Beyond everything else, we’ll finally get to see how the new Final Fantasy XIV plays after being severely panned by critics and gamers in its initial run. Square Enix has claimed to have revamped everything from the ground up; hopefully, it will be enough.
