Like Final Fantasy XI, the last Final Fantasy MMORPG, Square Enix is interested in having an Xbox One version for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and is in talks with Microsoft about the same. Producer and director Naoki Yoshida confirmed as much to Pocket Lint at E3.

“We really want to do an Xbox One version. As a big Xbox player myself. The thing is, A Realm Reborn is all about cross-platform compatibility. Anybody from any platform can play together.

“We don’t want to split our community into people who play on this platform or play on that one. So we’re currently in talks with Microsoft, trying to convince them that this is what needs to happen.”

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is currently available on PS3, PS4 and PC. Given how PC players can play with PlayStation platform holders, it shouldn’t be too far-fetched to allow the same for Xbox users. But we’ll see how and when an Xbox One version finally emerges.
