With Fortnite being one of biggest games in the world and being available on multiple different platforms, it helps to be able to consolidate accounts across different platforms sometimes. It especially helps with a game that’s constantly being updated with tons of new characters, gears, and skins. It wasn’t a perfect system by any means, as mergers could take up to two weeks at times, but it seems that Epic is deciding to end it completely as a feature at the beginning of next week.
As you can see from the game’s official Twitter below, the option of merging accounts will end on May 6th. There’s no reason given for why that’s happening, nor if it has any direct correlation to Season 9, which begins just two days after the cutoff. Merger requests put in before the sixth will still be honored, at least. Hopefully, there is some alternative solution coming down the pipeline.
Fortnite is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, and iOS and Android devices.
The Account Merge feature will be coming to an end on May 6, 2019. Be sure to submit a merge request prior to that date for any eligible accounts.
Note: Any "In Progress" Account Merge requests will be completed as long as they're submitted prior to May 6 https://t.co/PkxLcl5WnR
