While Forza 7 will have a truly enviable roster of cars, it seems like it will be missing vehicles from at least one major manufacturer- Toyota. According to a statement by Microsoft to AR12 Gaming, Toyota production vehicles will not be present in the game.

Forza Motorsport 7 will feature more than 700 cars at launch, including 90 manufacturers and hundreds of additional licensed brands,” the statement reads. “While Toyota production vehicles will not be included in the game, there will be a number of Toyota race cars featured in Forza Motorsport 7. Look for that list later this summer.”

No actual reason was shared for why Toyota production cars will be missing, but it probably comes down to Microsoft being unable to work out the licensing for them. Licensing issues have long been the bane of racers- for instance, Porsche cars were long missing from any racer on the market but EA’s, because EA had secured an exclusive contract with Porsche all the way back in 2000.

Forza Motorsport 7 launches on Xbox One, with Xbox One X enhancements, as well as on Windows 10 PCs, on October 3 this year.
