A couple of months ago, Microsoft unveiled Game Pass Core, a cheaper tier of its subscription service that will replace Xbox Live Gold, while also bringing a smaller, more curated catalog of titles for subscribers as compared to other Game Pass tiers. Now, with the new tier of the service set to launch tomorrow, on September 14, Microsoft has revealed the full lineup of games that will be available at launch.
Upon its announcement, Microsoft said Game Pass Core will offer over 25 games at launch, and as it turns out, the library is going to be much beefier than that, with 36 games included.
As you’d expect, plenty of first party Microsoft offerings are going to be included in the lineup, including the likes of Grounded, State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition, Psychonauts 2, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Gears 5 Game of the Year Edition, Dishonored 2, Fable Anniversary, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and DOOM Eternal Standard Edition.
Interestingly, however, there will be some older offerings that will be on offer in place of their respective franchises’ most recent instalments. For instance, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite aren’t included, but subscribers can play Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Wars 2. Similarly, Forza Horizon 5 won’t be on offer, but Forza Horizon 4 will be.
Meanwhile, a number of beloved indie hits are also included in the library, including Among Us, Stardew Valley, Limbo, Inside, Celeste, Vampire Survivors, Dead Cells, Firewatch, and Slay the Spire, among others.
Unlike other Game Pass tiers, Game Pass Core won’t see day and date releases for first (or third) party titles, but Microsoft says it will be updating its library 2-3 times per year.
