Xbox has announced the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which means franchises like Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, Crash Bandicoot, and many, many more are all going to become first party Xbox franchises once the deal has been completed. And as is the case with all first party Microsoft games, any and all Activision Blizzard releases are going to start Game Pass on day 1 as well.

Of course, as they did with Bethesda games upon the completion of that acquisition, Microsoft will eventually be bringing various existing Activision games to Game Pass on PC and Xbox as well. Over on Xbox Wire, Xbox boss Phil Spencer wrote: “Upon close, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard’s incredible catalog.”

Interestingly, Spencer also confirms that Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass have collectively amassed over 25 million subscribers to date. In January 2021, that figure stood at 18 million subscribers, so the service is clearly continuing to enjoy steady growth.

Of course, with Activision Blizzard and its entire catalog soon joining Game Pass as well, the value of the service is going to increase exponentially as well, so those subscriber numbers should continue to see significant growth.
