Best PC Game:
The market for exclusive PC titles has dried up considerably over the past decade. Now, it’s the platform you go to when you want the best graphics for any multiplatform title. But is that what really makes a great PC game? The platform is also the only place you’ll find a compelling strategy game that isn’t a tower-defense tile. And until the Xbox One and PS4 pick up popularity in those departments, it’s also the only place for free to play games and MMORPGs. Check out the nominees for Best PC Game of 2013 below.
Nominees:
– Outlast
– Company of Heroes 2
– Path of Exile
– Tomb Raider
– Total War: Rome 2
– Saints Row IV
– Europa Universalis IV
– Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Winner: Outlast
If Outlast proved anything in 2013, it’s that – among many other things – it’s possible to have a compelling title only on the PC and still find success. Yes, it will be out on the PS4 next year, but this year, Outlast belongs to the PC crowd. With its excellent story-telling, heart-pounding gameplay and outright frightening setting, Outlast is just too hard to ignore. Multiplatform games like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Saints Row IV and Tomb Raider will offer a similar gameplay experience across other consoles albeit with improved visuals. Total War: Rome 2 and Company of Heroes 2 both failed to live up to the hype around them. And honestly, Outlast offers a truly unique experience unlike anything available on the PC this year.
