Perhaps the biggest year for gaming, but which titles earned the right to be Game of the Year?

Best Multiplayer Title

Multiplayer has grown to ridiculous lengths in 2013. Several developers outright announced multiplayer only games – with a dash of story and purpose, of course – for release in 2014 and games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 continued with the momentum built solely based on their unique modes. Of course, results may vary on who had the best launch and best overall experience. Korea may just as easily name StarCraft as their multiplayer title of the year (any StarCraft, really. And for any year), but what earns the nod for our Best Multiplayer Title of the Year?

Nominees:

– Battlefield 4

– Grand Theft Auto Online

– Gears of War: Judgment

– Call of Duty: Ghosts

– Payday 2

– StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

Winner: Grand Theft Auto Online

GTA Online_02

Despite a troublesome few weeks after launch, Rockstar North has made GTA Online the default place for your multiplayer needs. Want to rob a store with friends? How about hopping aboard a train and laying waste to an entire city? Fancy traveling in a jet together and skydiving out at the same time? That’s not including jury assassination, drug dealing, weapons running, competitive multiplayer and outright randomness in free play. You can even create your own missions and Rockstar North has been supplying new content via the Beach Bum DLC. Even if every other game had strong runs without any bugs (we’re looking at you Battlefield 4), GTA Online presents a more comprehensive, long-term and damn fun multiplayer solution in every way.
