Shadow of Mordor was one of the biggest surprises of 2014, being one of those rare games that properly makes use of a big license, so obviously, expectations from its sequel were pretty high. Surprisingly enough, Shadow of War came along and delivered on all fronts. Though veteran Tolkien fans may balk at the liberties the game takes with the lore of Middle-Earth, it’s hard to deny that as a game, Shadow of War is top-notch. It takes the best bits of its predecessors – the combat, the traversal, the Nemesis system – and builds upon all of them excellently, delivering a game that is bigger and better in every way possible.
