Microsoft promised that the Xbox One X, the most powerful console ever made, would allow for native 4K resolution in a lot of video games- and for its part, it is doing a lot to live up to that promise. For instance, Microsoft confirmed today that Gears of War 4, The Coalition’s maiden entry in the acclaimed third person shooting franchise, will run at a full 60 frames per second on the Xbox One X- at least for the campaign.
This will be in addition to the fan favorite Horde Mode, the PvE multiplayer mode which will also run at a full 60 frames. For comparison’s sake, both modes run at 30 frames on a standard Xbox One or Xbox One S. These settings will be available to you in Performance Mode, which will prioritize framerate over resolution, reducing the latter to 1080p.
If you go with Visuals mode, the game will run in 4K resolution- but the framerate will stay at 30fps. As always, you will get the choice. You can check out the video detailing these improvements for yourself below. Gears of War 4 is available on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
