Gears of War 4 Gets An Extended Gameplay Demo at Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference

Plus, an extremely neat throwback to the original trilogy.

Gears of War 4

The first game that Microsoft showed off at their E3 press conference today was Gears of War 4, which got an extended live gameplay demo. We got to see a lot of the game, including Marcus Fenix, who is apparently going to be in this game! Not as a playable character, though, but still- it’s a very neat throwback to the original trilogy, and for its fans.

The game itself seems… lukewarm? That was the only word I could find. It doesn’t seem as viscerally engaging as the original trilogy did, and it is definitely not a technical standout in the present context like the original Gears of War was. That said, The Coalition have said in the past that they are approaching this new game as a horror themed game, so who knows- maybe it’s just a game that doesn’t demo as well?

Gears of War 4 will launch in October this year, for Xbox One. It will also headline Microsoft’s Xbox Anywhere initiative.
