After relative silence, the Gears of War Collection has re-entered the rumor mill. It’s allegedly launching this year for Xbox Series X/S and PC alongside PS5, marking the series’ debut on Sony’s console. However, other rumors have since emerged, alleging no PvP.
Windows Central’s Jez Corden has since chimed in, noting that he also heard about the collection lacking competitive multiplayer. The reasons for this are unknown but he added that co-op will apparently still be included. Which is a good thing, given how iconic Horde mode has been for the series.
Of course, it’s unknown which games will make it into the collection or if they’re remastered. Neither The Coalition nor Microsoft has indicated that it’s even in the works. As always, stay tuned for further updates.
Meanwhile, the next title in the franchise is Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel set 14 years before the first game and focuses on Emergence Day. Though previously rumored for this year, it’s allegedly launching in 2026 instead.
