Gears of War: E-Day is looking like a throwback to the series’ earliest days in more ways than one, from its more linear structure and the promise of horror-esque elements to, of course, its Emergence Day setting. The game is also set to once again star Marcus Fenix and Dominix Santiago – the pair that together led the original trilogy – as its primary protagonists, and unsurprisingly, both characters are going to see their actors reprising their roles.
The same was confirmed by Microsoft. Taking to Twitter via the official Gears of War account, the company announced that John DiMaggo and Carlos Ferro – the voices of Marcus and Dom respectively – will both be reprising their roles in the upcoming E-Day.
DiMaggio has, of course, been involved in every mainline Gears of War title, having continued to play Marcus Fenix in Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, even after the character was no longer the series’ main playable protagonist. Meanwhile, Ferro has also reprised Dom’s role in Gears 4 and 5’s multiplayer components, even though Gears of War 3 was canonically the character’s last appearance.
Gears of War: E-Day is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC. A release date hasn’t been announced, but leaks have claimed the game is targeting a 2025 launch.
