As of right now, at the height of console war anticipation, a lot of things are up in the air when it comes to which games will be released on which system. Gears of War is a series which has been loyal to Microsoft since its inception, which each of its four titles having been released on the Xbox 360.

However, according to Microsoft executive Phil Spencer, things are up in the air right now as to whether or not the next installment in the fan favorite series will appear on the next-gen Microsoft console, the Xbox One.

“Gears of War is developed by Epic Games, and they’ve been our partners for a long time on Xbox 360. You should ask Epic Games about what they want to do. We haven’t announced anything yet about Gears of War, but we hope to bring it to Xbox One in some form. However, there’s nothing more I can tell you at this time.”

It seems as though Microsoft’s future with Gears of War is in the hand of developers Epic Games. Though we’ve seen no indication as to why their previous relationship would not persist.
