I’m sure by now you’ve probably heard of a little game by the name of Genshin Impact. The free-to-play title has managed to make quite the splash both for its surprisingly high budget as well as it’s equally as surprising fun combat system. We were pretty high on it ourselves. The game is currently running on PC, PS4 and mobile, but with next gen right around the corner, people are wondering about that, too. Today, we have an answer, more or less.

Twinifinite spoke with developer miHoYo and asked them outright if the game would be coming to next generation systems. They gave an almost as straightforward answer that there were plans about next generation consoles but wouldn’t share them until later. While not explicitly stating the game will be coming to PS5, they did explicitly mention that there were no plans for Xbox versions of the title, meaning that when it does hit next gen it’ll likely be only on Sony’s platform as is the case now.

“We have plans regarding next-gen consoles, and we will be announcing them as these plans take shape. We do not currently have plans to release the game on Xbox.”

Genshin Impact does struggle somewhat on the PS4, though not significantly, and the game is planned to come to the Switch at some point though no timeline has been set out. The game has already grossed over $100 million since its initial launch, so a next generation version would add more fuel to this potential fire.
