Sony and PlayStation have updated the box art for Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima. The new box art advertises the game’s multiplayer, but more interestingly, it also removes the “Only on PlayStation” banner that sits above the game’s box art. The new box art was spotted at Amazon and PlayStation Direct and was first reported on by VGChronicle. You can still view the original box art on this product page for reference.
Sony previously removed the “Only on Branding” branding for Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn, which were the first of Sony’s first-party games to be ported to PC. The change could be a sign that Ghost of Tsushima will be the next game Sony opts to release on PC. PlayStation Studios Head Hermen Hulst has previously said Sony will continue to release games on PC “at the right times.”
This doesn’t necessarily mean anything, however, as Sony has not used the “Only on PlayStation” branding for games that are both on PS4 and PS5, such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The publisher has dropped the branding entirely for more recent releases like Demon’s Souls and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Still, it’s interesting to speculate.
