The various Armor pieces in Ghost of Yotei have unique perks to each of them, in addition to their distinct cosmetic appearance. Most of them are acquired through completion of specific objectives in the main storyline, while a handful are entirely missable through side content.

How To Upgrade The Onryo Armor
The Onryo Armor can be upgraded only by progressing the main storyline, unlike the other Armors which either are upgraded through Ginji The Armorer, or are simply non-upgradeable. The specific Tales are:

- The Saito Brothers
