Retro video games sometimes came with a particular glitch known as the pause glitch. Normally by pausing and resuming, the game would create some kind of an effect by mistake. Take for example Mega Man on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Mega Man had a pause glitch that significantly helped players when defeating enemies and bosses. When a player fires out a Thunder Beam, the beam could be manipulated to hit an enemy multiple times just by pausing and resuming at the right time. Exploiting these glitches could allow gamers to progress through the video game far easier and faster not to mention this trick comes in handy when you’re trapped against a powerful enemy. And for a game like Mega Man, that was a great boon.
