God of War: Ascension Dev Diary Talks Prequilitis, Art Design

Find out what went into designing the single-player campaign for the sequel.

God of War: Ascension may look at Kratos in his pre-godly days, but for SCE Santa Monica, it was about fundamentally changing up the game’s art design to reflect it being a prequel to the main God of War trilogy.

The new developer diary remains focused on the single-player campaign in that regard, but also looks at the new combat mechanics and enhancements that have been implemented to raise the bar after the earth-shattering conclusion of the main trilogy.

Ascension takes place just before the first game, as Kratos has turned his back on Ares and seeks revenge while being hunted for betraying his oath to the God of War. Eventually we’ll find out how Kratos met Athena and served as a tool for the Gods of Olympus following his slaughtering the bunch of them in the sequels.

God of War: Ascension is due to release for PlayStation 3 on March 12th in North America and March 13th in Europe.
