God of War Director Has Five Sequels Planned

The angry Spartan isn't going anywhere yet.

God of War

The new God of War game is absolutely incredible (if you haven’t already, go get it and play it- you won’t regret it). And while it is a sequel to the original saga in more ways than you can imagine, it also represents sort of a fresh start for the franchise- essentially, the beginning of a new story arc fo Kratos.

Developers Sony Santa Monica have previously indicated that they have multiple sequels planned for this new game, and speaking in an interview with Kotaku‘s Jason Schreier, God of War director Cory Barlog indicated that he has as many as five sequels for the game planned out in his head. That would indicate that the story of Kratos and Atreus in the Nine Realms of Norse myths potentially has a lot of mileage for the foreseeable future.

Barlog also indicated that he hopes for the next games to come out far faster than the gruelling five year long development cycle that God of War saw- which, I think, now that the base for the new series is in place, isn’t unfeasible. God of War is available now, exclusively on PS4.
