The very first boss fight of the God of War franchise might seem almost quaint in retrospect, when you compare it to everything that’s happened in the series since then- but it still holds a special place in the hearts of series fans. It was an almost perfect introduction to God of War, from its scale and brutal QTEs to how immaculately it was paced across multiple stages. Call it nostalgia, call it timeless design- either way, the Hydra boss fight has aged very, very well.
