Deborah Ann Woll has been quite vocal about her confidence in God of War Laufey ever since Sony lifted the curtains on its upcoming addition to its heavy-hitting franchise at the last State of Play.
She told us about how Faye’s upcoming adventure in the Everywhen is just the beginning of a new chapter for the franchise. Well, she’s now come out to address reactions about a female-led title in a franchise that’s typically focused on Kratos and his exploits. GamesRadar reports on her response to a fan’s question (via TikTok) about the criticism at Florida Supercon.
Her response is as graceful as the few glimpses we’ve been given of Faye in Kratos’s last adventure. “I mean, genuinely, I thought I was going to be much more affected by it. One, I’m not on social media, so that helps. And two, I don’t know, I feel totally unbothered because I just know it’s great. Like, it’s okay if it’s not your cup of tea, but in no universe is it bad.”
That’s a fair point, and from what we’ve seen of the combat, storytelling, and the setting, this one’s got the potential to be every bit as potent an experience as the games that have come before it, while Woll’s take on Faye could turn out to be among its best features. It’s also getting a physical disc, for those of you who were worried, while we’ve been speculating on potential story threads for a while now.
There’s no release date for Laufey yet, but we expect that to change soon enough based on recent rumors.
