Pre-orders open for God of War Laufey tomorrow, but thankfully, Santa Monica Studio had even more details to announce, and even some new gameplay. For starters, we get a first look at the Serpent Bow, Faye’s ranged weapon, which unleashes longer-range shots when holding the trigger or hip-fire by half-pressing.
The former is useful for hindering enemy movement or transitioning into a follow-up strike. It can also unleash up to five arrows when held down, leading to even more damage. Half-pressing is weaker, but lets you juggle enemies and swap to other weapons to keep a combo going. If that wasn’t enough, several arrow types, from rapid fire and multi-target to explosives, are available.
While Faye has dedicated archery skills, you can also equip different perks with Serpent Scales (which also change the weapon’s look). And yes, you can swap out her sword’s Blade. Different armor sets carry unique perks and stats, but you can also utilise magic with Catalysts, with a “variety” to be made available.
Finally, besides a screenshot showcasing the Serpent Bow, there are two others. One showcases Sekhmet in some chamber; the other shows Faye staring at Kratos. Is it really him or simply a projection of her thoughts? We’ll have to wait to know more.
Launching on February 16th, 2027, God of War Laufey still has some ways to go. Fortunately, Santa Monica Studio will reveal more information in the coming months, so stay tuned.
