God of War Ragnarok ups the ante over its predecessor in more ways than one- including boss fights. The game is brimming with boss encounters, from set piece battles that are part of the main story to smaller minibosses that intersperse the action to entirely optional fights that are well worth seeking out. At the same time, Ragnarok is a game that can be surprisingly challenging, even on the normal difficulty, which means more than a few bosses will put up a formidable fight against you. Here, we’re going to talk about and rank what we feel are the game’s sixteen most difficult bosses to beat.

#16. GRYLA
The very first playable Atreus section of the game ends with a delightful boss fight, with Atreus and Angrboda teaming up to defeat the latter’s grandmother, Gryla, a giant who’s tragically- well, lost her mind, to put it mildly. Playing as Atreus already makes this a pretty unique encounter, but when you add to that the mechanics surrounding Gryla’s pot, which you have to break, and how much larger she is than you, it stands out in memory even more.
